Project "MOTHER Speech-Language Pathologist"

Dear parents! Activating a cochlear implant is only the beginning of a long journey. For a child to learn to hear and, most importantly, to understand and reproduce speech, full, comprehensive rehabilitation is required. Medical technology alone is not enough — it must be followed by systematic sessions with a speech-language pathologist.

Rehabilitation challenges

Many families live in remote regions with no access to specialized centers;
There is an acute shortage of qualified speech-language pathologists;
Parents often don't understand how to properly develop their child's hearing and speech.

Without regular pedagogical support and daily practice, a child won't be able to learn to hear and speak even with the most advanced and expensive equipment.

The family is the key participant in rehabilitation

Families facing this challenge often don't know how to properly communicate with their child or how to teach them to perceive human speech and sounds. Without a competent rehabilitation process and regular sessions, a child won't be able to learn to hear and speak even with an expensive device.

Every mother of a child with hearing loss should help them develop. After all, a child with a cochlear implant adapts to the world of sound not only in the specialist's office, but also outside it — every day, 365 days a year. The family is the key link in this process.

The main work of developing and teaching a child with hearing loss happens within the family, when loved ones are 100% involved in the process. However, parents often lack the knowledge and skills. That's why the Mir Sluha center organizes a speech-language pathology course for parents.

The "MOTHER Speech-Language Pathologist" Project

This is a unique educational course for parents of children with hearing loss. As part of the program:

Step-by-step methods for at-home lessons;
Tools for developing hearing and speech — parents learn hearing-and-speech rehabilitation skills;
Recommendations on games, exercises and everyday communication with the child are provided.
